This is my current go-to place for Mexican when visiting Peoria; I have been a few times now. Nearby, you'll find a Chili's and a Taco Bell and I always wonder: why would ANYONE go to those places and eat factory made food when good authentic Mexican, made fresh by Mexicans, is available near by, at similar or lower prices? Most of the menu is various things made from tortillas - essential Tex Mex, though the taste is more like the real Mexican places (not American Mex) you find in Chicago or California, the way I prefer it. They have huevos rancheros and variations. The lunch menu has many combination choices for around $7. Things are not always exactly as I expect. This time I ordered a pork burrito. Usually burritos are wrapped in foil and you pick them up to eat them. This one seemed like it was put on a plate and baked, then they added salsa verde and crema (a Central American light sour cream sauce) around and some on top. I liked it a lot, even if it was not how I imagined it to be. The place is clean, friendly, kept up well. With the shopping center construction, it was hard for my GPS to find it, so here are some directions: from Camp Street in East Peoria, turn right onto Riverside. Just past Lowes, look for it on the right in the same building as a Radio Shack.

Good Mexican food. Nothing out of the ordinary. Good daily specials. I go here periodically for dinner and lunch. I've never had a bad meal. However, like I said, nothing out of the ordinary.

This is in between a bar and restaurant on certain nights just at about 8:30pm they will play hip hop or pop music. The mexican food is decent. Standard issue rice. Two choices for tortillas (great!) with your piping hot fajitas. Not exactly super mexican but definitely better than other stuff in this town.

There was nothing wrong with it; average Mexican food. Restaurant was clean and service was fine. Not worth a special trip but nothing to avoid either.

It has certainly gone downhill. I've been to the place a few times but this last visit was the worst. My server was decent. Unfortunately, my food was cold, bland, and disgusting. When I complained, I believe they merely took my plate in the back, microwaved the food, and gave it back to me. I will never go to this place again.

A great place to get good quality Mexican at a great price. The service and the atmosphere were great and the food came out quickly. Portions were not too overwhelming, which makes Lorena's a good lunch spot.

Food is good service was good the only strange thing was that we ordered an appetizer and our entrees came first. When I asked the server about this he said that the appetizer takes 15 minutes. I don't care how long an appetizer takes it should always come before the entrees unless Ok ed other wise by the customer.

Their fried chicken chimi is awesome. Nachos Chicken Fajita is the best. Their salsa is hit or miss but I like it. Food is always served super fast.

Not so good. The basic chips and the best salsa. I ordered basic vegetable fajita. According to the menu i got only half the item. They fajita plate had very little quantity veggies and firat thing I noticed mushrooms were not there and he don't give me rice, when I asked him. He said " it dush nat cum wit it my frien" first of all I am not your friend, second go bring back the menu and see. You should have seen the look in his face. Then he bought some mushrooms. The taste as such was not that great anyways. I won't miss. Not going back.

This place is the best! Awesome salsa and fajitas. Very nice waiters and super fast service. The steak burrito with white cheese sauce is amazing.

We have been frequenting this place since it opened. In the last year and in comparison of other Mexican restaurants in the area, Lorena's has really fallen off the radar as far as food quality is concerned. Our meal this evening of burrito requeta was a dried out flour tortilla with a wee bit of chicken and some lettuce and cheese. It wasn't wrapped like a burrito at all. Also we got rice and beans which we didn't want and was not listed on the menu as part of the menu item . It was no different than if we had ordered the cheese steak meal. Very disappointed. We Will not be back. Last three meals were not worth the money. Also, The margarita had little to no Tequilla in it. Instead of Lorena's go to tequilla's or la Fiesta in Morton. They make improvements for their customers dining out enjoyment. We gave you many tries. Sorry improve your food quality and we will come back. But not before then

Lorena's is absolutely amazing. Really quick service and the waiters are very friendly. I always make sure to get one of their Margocoronas whenever I go. Love!

Simple lunch of Fish tacos with grilled fish was very good. Look forward to the next visit and would order again.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
